The integrated module (black box w/ blue color writing) is on the left your steering column
I don't have OEM upgrade sec. sys on my STi.
But I think the upgraded alarm should be placed surrounding the integrated module

That's why you put in an ignition kill switch like me. I have the stock alarm, Lo-Jack and a kill switch. That's as good as it's gonna get. When I bought me STI in Tacoma Washington, they had sold 15 STI's and 11 had been stolen already, so I went a little over board with the security. Someone stealing my car wouldn't bother me (as long as I had cab fare) except with all the money I've put into the STI already.

on the sti the security upgrade is installed behind the glove
