Which Security System to Install

I got the hornet 554t installed on mine. Its one of those 2 way paging alarms. I was considering the viper vx790 but got a deal on the hornet installed. Plus my installer told me that viper and hornet basically use the same stuff since both are part of the parent company dei. Its okay to show off to your friends and whatnot but as far as range it pretty much sucks. Its okay for lets say the local restaurant when your car is rite outside but don't think it'll reach you parking at the mall or sumthin. Also consider the invisabeam proximity sensor and maybe a siren with backup battery it you go with the hornet or viper. Also I have heard good things about compustar but don't know much about them. Goodluck

I got the stock alarm because they threw it in for free. If they didn't I think I'd have bought a Clifford Alarm.
The Clifford alarm has the pager and can be a simple turbo timer by letting the vehicle run for about 1 or 2 minutes.
Hell, you don't even have to buy a turbo timer and mess with installing conflicts.
To late for me, I already bought a blitz turbo timer, probably would have came out to almost the same amount as just buying the Clifford alarm.

Addition....
Whatever noisemaker you decide to get, I would HIGHLY recommend getting this here--> http://www.powerlock.com/consumerfront.asp
I may get pissed cuz someone busts a window out of my car, but I'd start shooting ppl if they hotwired it and took it for a joyride. Or stripped it.

Scoobypup,
How is the installation of this powerlock thing?
It seems it disconnect all power to the starters?
Isn't this the same as regular power disable thing on most alarms?
What makes it so hot wire free just like what they claim to be.
I need more explanation to convince me to buy it...

The difference is basically that with an alarm, there must be power to the alarm for it to disable the starter/fuel pump. If someone was to disable your alarm (ie. rip it out), you would no longer have that protection. With the powerlock, there is no way (short of replacing the starter) to disable the device without going through the system (with the key).
Once installed, the powerlock device CANNOT be removed from the starter. It's like JB welded onto it.
There are a few different installation options depending on what "extras" you get. It is usually recommended that it be installed by a "professional", but I believe they offer installation instructions with it as well.
Most of this information can be found on the website even tho navigation isn't the greatest on it.
