Radio reception

I just installed my stereo in my STi and I am getting horrible reception. Is anyone else having this problem? I also just had the windows tinted and its an all metal tint...I am wondering if this could be the cause since the antena is in the window. Anyone have any suggestions or know if the antena could be loose somewhere besides the back of my stereo?

There is a posting regarding this. It seems to affect AM reception more than FM. When you put tint that is metallic it will affect reception.

You don't have the antenna amp hooked up. Hook up the power antenna lead from your head unit to the wire going back to the antenna amplifier (a blue white in most harnesses, connects to a white wire on the car side of the harness).

Actually, the AM/FM thing is one possible answer, there is a thread on this already.

One question though, did you have to point out that it was a "wrong answer?"

Folks, I had the exact same problem. After I put in this unit, I found I could not get almost any FM channels. Then I took it back and they found out there is a WHITE wire need to be connected. It leads to the powered antenna.
Now everything is fine.

I use this blue/white wire for the amp also , so thats why it wasnt hooked up nowsince I havent installed the amp. Do I need to splice both my amp and the cars antena White wire to the blue/white? My manual labels the blue/white as for both of these applications.
