i realize that this is a STI forum i was wondering however if you guyys could help me out. Does anyone in southern cali have a "Prodrive Edition WRX" that they would care to commnet about. i was thinking about buying one but was unsure as to the real world advantage of buying one. so any input would be helpful, however input from someone who actually owns one would be more helpful.

 

The US doesn't have a prodrive edition, thats in Europe. If there is one in CA, its just an owner adding prodrive parts to a standard WRX.

 

No the US does get a "Prodrive Edition" it is being custom built by the Irvine, CA dealership. they tell me that there are three different stages of modification and that each prodive version is being individually numbered. i was also told by a dealership spokesperson that one or more of the import performance magazines is currently working on a story about the custom built prodrive cars. they told me that the article should be out in the next month or two. if you want to you can contact them yourself to ask. www.irvinesubaru.com

so my question is, what do you guys think is it worth the extra cash to get one of these things or should i just modify it myself with different parts. As i understand it, prodive is a very good tuner when it comes to the WRX.

 

I don't think prodrive is actually doing the tuning... SPI motor sports is and they are offering prodrive parts.

 

i was told that they flew in a couple of the prodrive techs to show the SPI guys how to tune the mods. Now I have a hard time believing this but..... anyways what do you think? Worth the extra moolah?
