i dont like interest, i like to buy the car off right away, and i woulndt finance another 4K, thats just too much fer me, i dont deserve a $36,000 car but maybe a $32,000 car. i guess i might just buy the normal WRX because the new sti seems bit too much, i thought id b aroun 31K out the door

Markup Shmarkup

I've heard all kinds of crazy numbers about markup; Steven's Creek Subaru in San Jose, CA, told me $10k over. (I obviously told them to shove it.) Ron Price Subaru in South SF, where I bought my WRX, told me they'd hook me up with ZERO markup, since I'm a returning customer. I don't know if that helps anyone, but if you've got a WRX, check with the dealer you bought it from and see if they'll hook you up like mine did for me. Good luck!

yes. my brother bought a 2003 WRX frum the dealership so ill prolly go bak n try to get the sti fer cheaper, yet if the sti does come out to b too much.. i might just get a normal WRX.. but i will always wish i had an sti, yes even though the WRX is much cheaper, the sti will have things the WRX will not. such as the 2.5L engine, jdzumwalkt u said ur car will be souped up to smoke an sti by putting 13,000, that is good but the sti base hp starts at 300hp! wat he the owner of an sti wants to soup his sti up. then u lose. cause... who would win.. the fixed up sti vs. the fixed up wrx. so i still the hope the sti is affordable because id be happy with a wrx, but i will always have sum regret because i kno there is an sti out there.

i kno wat u mean jd, but im saying u cant beat a fixed up sti because its base power is much higher than a wrx, so u kno wat i mean wen i say that fixed up sti will smoke any car, espeically fixed up sti vs. fixed up wrx. id bet on the fixed up sti =) u kno wat i mean? thats why i want to have the sti so bad

If the price you agree on with the dealer is $31K, then figure something like $600 or so for license, $45 or something like that for a document fee, and your local taxes. In SF California, that adds up to $34,280, give or take a few hundred bucks.

The problem with the "go where the demand is low" idea is that, given Subaru's output of ~300 per month and that there are 650 dealerships in the US, that those "low demand" places aren't going to get STi's anytime soon. I know this isn't the same for everyone, but I'm one of those "gotta be the first on the block" kinda kids, so sometimes you have to deal with the less-than-optimal aspect of eating some dealer markup if you want the car ASAP, you know?
