Pre-cat in STi up pipe.

I have read a couple places that there is no pre-cat in the STi up-pipe but I just read in the Subaru 2004 STi service manual that there is indeed a pre-cat in the up-pipe. is there anyone here who has actually taken off and looked down the up-pipe that can confirm if there is/is not a precat?
