wuts up everybody, im getting my new car next year and i was wondering if i should get the STi or the EVO.A lot of people i know are saying that by getting the evo im most likely goin to get more attension from people becuase of the features and looks of the car itself. i myself love subaru and im most likely going to get the subaru but it has a lack of entertainment features so if or when i get it i no i will have to invest in speakers a cd player and ex. i also know that the subaru is a great performance car. so i was just wondering if i could get some feed back from sum people who have driven these cars and have experience. THANX

Both cars are amazing. You can't go wrong with either. My suggestion is to go test drive both back to back and see which you prefer. Each have their pros and cons. If you're leaning toward the STi I would suggest to wait until the detonation issue is resolved.
I think you're right that the EVO will get more attention because the STi and WRX look very similar (like the Cobra to the Mustang GT). An enthusiast can easily pick out the STi but for the average person they look very much alike.
It really boils down to what you want out of the car. 300hp with warrenty? sunroof?
For the price you pay for a stereo in the STi, you can mod the EVO to get it to the 300 hp...but you lose the factory warrenty. Is this something you're interested in?
Also, someone pointed out at evolutionm that the difference in price is about $2000 which can cover his winter wheels and tires.
Like I said before, you can't go wrong with either. They will both teach many cars a lesson or two at the track. Sit and drive both and figure out what you like.

My thinking was as follows. I wanted a fun car I could drive every-day (winter tyres will be required). Neither the STi or Evo have the build quality of a BMW, but then they cost less than half the amount. I have no plans to race. The EVO appears to be a street legal race car. It is ill mannered at low speeds (ie. commuter traffic) and has a very stiff suspension that would cause problems on some of my local roads. It also has an even cheaper interior than the STi.
The STi is fine in slow traffic and whilst it has a stiff ride, it is not harsh. On public roads the stock STi could go faster than I am capable of driving it, or seeing. Even with the help of a Valentine 1 radar locator, discipline is required because of all the Indian pueblos where I live. These pueblos have two sources of income, gambling and speeding fines. I am planning to swap the huge rear wing for the WRX model to try and become less of a cop magnet.
As I live at 7500ft, I have lost 40 or so HP over sea-level figures. I could remove the turbo cats to get the lost HP back, but at present the car goes well enough for me.
