I dont know why in the USA Subaru continue to offer their new WRX and STi with the RS rims... personally, I think our rims looks better!!
That car (US STi) looks ordinary with those rims - time they made em look tuff, really lets it down.

The USDM rims certainly do not suck in terms of specs......they are forged (and very lightweight) whereas the JDM/UK/Aussie rims are cast and are significantly heavier.
If you equate quality with price (doesn't always correlate), the USDM rims are $800 USD each and the cast JDM ones $400 each from Rallispec.
You may not like the looks of the USDM STi wheels, but you're certainly getting one helluva top-end rim as standard.

the one we have is the "optional @ extra $ " rims
both in Japan and Aussie if i am not mistaken
