Mastro Subaru says they plan on marking up STi prices

Larry from Mastro just called me. They are threatening to charge over MSRP if you don't put your deposit down ASAP. The quantities they are getting are less than they thought, or so they claim. I think he is trying to bully me into putting a deposit down. Personally, I need to sit in and at least see the car if I can't at least test drive it. 33K is alot of cash.

Just put down a deposit and make sure it's refundable. Get it in writing.

So, say In a month one comes in and you don't like it for some strange reason, you get your money back. Big deal. You lost .25 cents in interest.

I visit a local dealer saturday and had a chat with the salesmen... He said there is 3800 arriving to North America... So im not sure is that combined with Canada or not... He also said the first one they are receiving will be about a month from now and he doesnt know the spec's on that particilar(sp?) one... He said that one is being auctioned and the price right then is $36,000... And i told him i rather have a WRX if its that price... Good salesmen, very helpful, but the price is outta hand... Oh i forgot to mention that there will be about 6 to each dealership...

Have you heard if Mastrow has any STi's in yet? They called me about 2 weeks ago and said they should be getting them in mid May. So I would expect them to see their first shipment any day if not already.

I will probably have to wait for the next group of cars to come in. They told me they were getting 7 Sti's in the first shipment.

I was originally # 21 on the list. Then some people backed out. I'm now probably around 10 - 15th on the list. Mastow is going to be getting quite a lot of STi's. I was told they may get up to 10 STi' a month. We will have to see if that holds true.

Call and talk to Pete Mastro directly. Let him know that Glen in Port charlotte told you to go to him directly. This does not seem like something he would approve of. He is a very fair man and I have never seen them mark a single car up before. I dont understand why they would start now. Anyways just give him a call and he can straighten things out for you. I purchased my WRX from him back in 02.

Also, the list at Mastro is so large I dont see how they HAVE to have a deposit. Hell if you back out I know hes got more people on the list willing to come pick it up that day. Just something id mention. But like I said call and talk to pete. He is the owner.

If you are going to get the car leave a deposit on it. Its a faster WRX ... If you like the WRX and can afford the price, tires, gas, insurance, no radio, less insulation, and attention you will get then leave a deposit... I say put up or shut up... I cant afford an STI now.. maybe in 2 years but not now.. so I am not out stroking a dealer and acting like I want one
