Exclamation Let's start a boycott list for Subaru dealers charging over MSRP!

Like the subject line says, let's put the pressure on the Subaru dealers, just like evolutionm.net has done with Mitsubishi Dealers. I already have one to add:

Eddie Accardi Subaru in Pompano Beach, FL.

Asking Price:

"My name is Sam Hamian, I sell cars online for Eddie Accardi Motors in
Pompano Beach. I have received your quote request. I thank you for the
opportunity to earn your business.

Here is your preferred online buyer price.

E-price $38,020.77
This is your out the door price. The car must be ordered. There will be
none to sell at the dealership. The required none refundable down
payment is $2000.

This price is good through Internet department only. Please call me with
your questions and come down to test drive the car.

Best wishes,

Sam Hamian

The only option available on the STi is a dealer installed radio which I don't want anyway. Froglips, I will PM you about the current situation in the South Florida area.

Is there an options list available? I've heard the JDM version has stainless steel brake lines and stuff available.

Sorry, forgot to add this one yesterday....

Potamkin Subaru of Miami (as mentioned by froglips)

Agreed via e-mail and over the phone to offer MSRP + tax + tag (no dealer fees).

Visited dealer and talked to the Internet sales person I corresponded with and his arrogant sales manager that loved to tell stories and talk down to me. Sure they were willing to sell for MSRP but they wanted to split the $695 dealer fee (not to mention they had an additonal $50 Document fee underneath that) AND they lowballed my great condition trade by thousands! They basically wanted over MSRP for the STi and wanted to take my trade for less than wholesale, so any way you look at it, they were trying to get their markup.

P.S. My screen name here actually used to be D-WRX, but recently changed ISPs a couple of months ago and couldn't retrieve my login information.

Exclamation

Here's another one:

William Lehman Subaru

Basically the same situation as I described above for Potamkin Subaru of Miami except I dealt directly with the "Internet Manager" and I did it all via e-mail. In a nutshell, he sent me an e-mail back an offered me MSRP "for this weekend only" and then when I countered and was even willing to pay the MSRP for their car as HE had offered ME, and take between Clean and Average Black Book value for my trade, the end result was no response back from him.

Dealers like these know that pretty much most of the people buying these cars will have a trade-in where they will try and make their markup/added profit back and or with dealer fees. Too bad for them.

**EDIT**
I have recently had e-mail communication with the Sales Manager at William Lehman, and sounds like they are willing to deal. I'll keep everyone posted and the listing updated.

Yeah it sucks

Here are production numbers
4000? made 653 dealers
equals about 6 cars per dealer.
They're like dogs who lick there nuts and say "because I can".
We in Hawaii still have the Aloha spirit we send leis to New York
for 9/11 and... we sell STIs at $33313.30 O.T.D direct from Japan.
Aloha

a) The salesman I talked to (Robert) was the biggest jackass I've ever met. Rolled his eyes at me when I asked him to clarify some crazy lingo he was throwing at me. He laughed at me when I said I was expecting to pay ~MSRP.

2) Asked for $10k over MSRP.

d) Told me that the $5k cash deposit he was insisting upon was to verify that I was "a legitimate customer".

When I talked to them over the phone back in January, the sales manager was a jackass as well, telling me that I had to rush down immediately if I hoped to get an STi in the next year or two. Wow.

Re: Let's start a boycott list for Subaru dealers charging over MSRP!

I remember that I started a thread about a couple of months ago suggesting that we should list dealers who suggest ridiculous markups (ie 1000K or more).

I then got ran out of the room. I was defending myself against people who said that "dealers have their own ways of doing things" and this and that. Dealers have to do this in order to do that. But the overall feeling was that this was a bad idea. Now that the Sti is selling and more people are figuring out that dealers WILL mark up a popular car (whether it be a 31K impreza or a 32K S2000), people are willing to make a big deal out of it.

Glad to see that people are helping other people out in getting those prices down to MSRP and getting rid of unnecessary markups.

By the way, what is up with Stevens Creek dealerships? They decide to markup cars that are supposed to give "bang for the back" by 20k??? (ie both the EVO and the Sti)

Tim
