how much will you guys pay for a sti
I just brought a 2003 wrx , was going to the dealer to put a deposit on a sti, but I don't want to pay 40K for a subaru.
here the story, I purchase the wrx on feb 29, I was going to the
dealer asking for the sti and about the waiting list only 6 person was on the waiting list with a 500 dollar refundable deposit.I ask them can you gaurantee MSRP price on the sti they said no, there will be a dealer mark up. How much i'm not sure,, the dealer told me they might only get 4-5 sti this year that is one sti a month.
The waiting list will be the first people to call when the first sti comes in. They will call the first person on the list telling them the price and the color what is included if he or she don't want it they will call the next person. They told me that they will set a price if customer want to buy it they will get it so it doesn't mean the person first on the list will get the first sti in the dealership. I told the manager I'm willing to pay 1000 over msrp if they are willing to sell it to me at msrp + 1000. After all that BS with the dealership I kindof understand what they will do on selling the sti, ofcourse they won't sell it at invoice + 100 dollars etc... So I decided to purchase the 03 wrx I got it for 21,888 + fee with tax and everything came up to like 23,800. it was the last day of the subaru low APR financing, I got a 2.9 percent APR for 4 year I didn't even put a penny down..I ask them will this APR rate be offer for the sti they said no but you might be looking at 6.5 etc..
I'm not sure how other dealership from around the USA is selling the sti, I'm from the Bay area CA and everyone know people here are willing to pay more then most states and everything in the bay area cost more if you live in the bay area you will know.. 91 octane gas cost like 2.50 here a gallon here.
so if you are from CA thinking the sti at msrp think again..
oh yeah BTW lancer evo VIII 40K + fee 10,000K over MSRP at burlingame CA mitsubishi..

There are a couple dealers promising MSRP. If you're willing to drive or get them shipped you shouldn't have a problem.
For instane, I'm on the list up at Carter Subaru in Seatler. They ship for a few hundred dollars and promise MSRP. That's a great deal!

I live in CA and getting it for MSRP. The dealer I work with do not sell anything over MSRP. They deal BMW/VW/Audi/Sabb and Subaru. Even when the market was hot and dealers all over CA were selling the M3s and M5s for 10K+ over , they were selling for MSRP. When the VW Passat 4-motion with the W8 came out, they were hard to find and when found, they were marked up. Not at this delaership. When the STi arrive, and others are getting gouged in CA, this place will be selling it for MSRP. They are a smaller dealership (in terms of Subaru) and will probably only get 3-5 for the enitre year(sales manager prediction on his allocation). But they will all go for MSRP.
They are totally in to the customer service thing. They're pretty straight up considering they are car sales people. And if all else fails, I have it in writing with the sales manager's signature on my deposit slip.

yes, I have MSRP for the Subbie and EVO and both dealers are within 5 miles of my house
.... if the STi is over $33k I'll have to get the EVO...the EVO with spoiler(no roof) is $30k... while I can admit 3k more for STi may be worth it... 3.5 or more, just isnt in my budget
