G35 coupe, or sti
My coupe will be here in 3 weeks, fully loaded, 6spd nav, the works. I'm very tempted to take it instead of the sti. i'm # 5 on my dealers list for the STI, but i'm thinking now that the car is a bit "loud" for my tastes. Although I love the numbers of the car, I'm torn. What do you guys think? I can't have both.

3 cars ago, I had a 2000 Audi S4. Then I got a S2000. Needless to say one performs better in inclimate weather than the other. I would like to wait for the New Gen S4, but rumour has it it will be aroung 45k. To much for me in my current situation. The Sti will be a great car, but only those in the know will understand that, sitting side by side at a stand still, the G35 will be ALOT more attractive. Overall, it's all about the *****, and that's why I'm leaning towards the G35 coupe .

I'd buy that, but I have been wanting to buy the likes of EVOs and STis since the EVO III came out.
I'm the type that is into the technology of the AWD drivetrain as well.

I love the tech that's been put into the Sti, that's why I can overlook the lack of styling and luxury that I normally prefer. It's an awesome car. But now I'm thinking that the G coupe is just to nice of a looking car not to buy. They're both going to be hot cars this summer.

.............and by the time you buy the stock B6 S4 (around $50k out the door) add on MTM's supercharger (knowing MTM I'd say around $3k to $5K) plus fitment costs etc. you're looking at $60k.....hell, why not go for a C4 and be done with it......or wait for the Ausi RS4 (proably around $60k anyway).
The STi will be a steal for around $35k............who gives a F**K what your neigbour or work colleague thinks about your less-than-prestigious Subaru.
I think I can overlook the ricer image and "inferior" build quality for a car which is destined to smoke M3s, AMG Mercs and a few Porches too.............

I hear you, ducaticorse. My dilemma was a little different--I have an 02 WRX and was considering getting an STi--but ultimately decided against it. The WRX is no beauty queen (unlike the G35, which, apart from her heavy ***, truly is), but the STi screams boy racer (and a boy racer who likes pink, at that) even more than my WRX, which was a little questionable to begin with. Still, my guess is that both cars will leave you longing for the other: the STi is in a completely different ballpark in terms of fun, and the G35 is in a completely different ballpark in terms of looks. Funny how that always seems to be the dilemma, doesn't it? :-)

I'm kinda in the same boat. If I don't get my Sti by fall, I'm seriously considering the G35/350Z instead. This is a question that only you can answer. Personally, the Nissans will rock the Subaru for fit and finish. To me, a well built car just seems to "work" better and make me happier. Plus the luxury and DVD-navigation is awesome too. The performance should be about on par with the Sti too, even though they probably won't feel like it. For some reason, stripped down rattle-traps always seem faster than those without any squeaks. If you're all about walking softly and carrying a big stick, then the Nissans are for you. The Sti, on the other hand, is a minimalist, fast as hell, and visually lets you know it. What personality are you?
I'd like to get my Sti so I can see how it fairs against the 350Z that had been roaming our track...

I had the same dilemma! But, I found my clear-cut answer: I want the STi over the G35 for one reason and one only (at least for myself):
STi has 4wd and G35 does not. I love skiing; except I hate putting on snow chains! 2wheel drive + snow - chain = ditch
If you have the same need as I do as far as driving in the snow, then you should know what to get.
I actually consider the 2004 Volvo S60R (MSRP ~$36k). It is also 4wd and 300hp/300lb-ft torque!!!!
