for the EVO and the STi, you guys have to take advantage of the 0-60.
but 0-60 is also where it t akes the most skills. no wonder a lot of fools get wooped on, dont represent for the STi if u gona lose to N/a cars with 2wd. straight up.

Well we munched chewed up and spit out our first Porsche last night , with 2 others in the car!! Looked like a 99 C2, not a turbo. We killed it off the line then the fool came back for more on the hwy @ 70. Cleaned up again but by a little less. He took the next exit, theres a dealership there, probly took it straight in for trade.
Going out for Japanese food tonight...

Well, more fun for me today. Made my first mod: My wife and I took our first advanced driving course today and drastically improved our skills. I learned so much I couldn't believe it. Classroom theory and autocrossing in the parking lot. Skid pad and salalom course too. Had many instructers make us really push the Sti but by no mean to it's limits. Smoked the rubber and brake pads big time today! It was glorious. Then, had a ride throught the course with an instructor's own STi back to back with another instructer's MACH 1 Mustang. Both were really incredible and so, so different. The STi was definitely faster throught the course but the Mustang was also a nice ride with it's rear wheel drive fishtailing all over. Got a certificate and a manual about everything we learned. I will definitely take the next course because after today I feel way more confident behind the wheel of this car.

Hello All,
As my first post, I'll add my own little story that is not very flashy but nonetheless was enjoying for me.
After quite a bit of house work, I wanted to ride the STi to get some more break-in miles on it (~800 mi. thus far). I took off on Rt. 27 in northern MD towards I-70. A lot of people were in their Sunday drive and this two-lane road was quite crowded. A trucker started slowing down and then pulled to the narrow shoulder. I thought he will be stopping, but as I went by him with around 35 mph he was also still rolling and looking over to the car. As soon as I pass him, he starts accelarating... he stuck to my back for a good 2-3 miles before he turned to a side road.
After few speed limit testing on I-70, I turned off to Rt.355 from Frederick. This northern part of 355 is a two-lane section and pretty nice for testing the SSess. But few slow goers again in front of me. The speed limit is usually 50 mph, but this gal was driving with 40 consistently. At the first opportunity, on 5th gear, I slightly pushed on the throttle, and the car just accelarated ever so smoothly, passing this Accord gently but in a determined manner.
Not much luck however, just 1/4 mi. later I come up behind a 3-car series doing 35 to 40 again. I am thinking it would not be nice to try to take them all at once, its too risky with these short broken lane markings. So, I wait a little, then this medium length uphill comes up and the next lane is totally empty. I drop to four, thinking its OK to go above the RPM limit for this time, and slowly start squeezing the throttle. By the time I hit 4500 RPM (my limit between 750 to 900 mi.) I had passed all three cars and was cruising at a nice pace. This was so suprising as I would never try anything like this in my Bimmer. This was one of the sweetest feelings I had, effortless overtaking at almost any gear, any speed.
After all, it was a nice Sunday drive

i dont have an STi, but i do have its little brother, an 04 WRX, and even with my WRX i can easily pass people, so i can imagine how easily it would be for the STi to fly by other cars.

I've let three friends and my father inlaw drive my car thus far.
They all have commented on the low end torque and how even in sixth a pass it just a thought away requiring no prior planning.
FT - I have passed four cars on a single lane highway at once (RT. 606 in VA) and did so in a 4->5 exchange with zero problem. In fact the easy part is passing. The hard part is resisting the seduction of the power & torque and remembering to _slow down_.
This car is soooo mean.
