How much fun have you been having in your STi?
I mean come on, there's been no threads about why we bought this car in the first place... it's fun and fast as hell! I want to hear how you've been driving it -- hard as hell, or taking it easy? How's people's and friends reactions to it? Anyone race anybody -- how did it go?
I can tell you, I have not raced anyone but I've been driving the s**t out of this car, HARD and FAST like it was meant to be and I've had tons of fun doing it. As far as an attention getter... no car has gotten more gawks, stares, thumbs up than any other car. I love it!

ya I love it too. Lot's of stares. Even had a couple girls blow me a kiss the other day and they can't see through my limo tint so I could have looked like a klingon, they didn't care. No races. Used to get that a lot in my WRX but now when I pull up next to a Honda and the freeway, they're affraid to even look at me. They just keep their heads bowed in respect.

This car has sooo much low end torque....its effortless to drive fast....daily driving becomes a field day..... and im not even driving it hard..... its hard not to drive like a jacka$$....when its sooo easy...the turbo just whisks you away like a swift breeze

I have had a ton of fun with it. I am glad this car has some low end torque compared to the EVO8. I am still getting used to having less than my old Z28. The best part of this car is how it handles, I throw it into turns and just get on the power to pull it out. Awesome. Still getting used to the understeer.
Heh, I can't wait for you to line up w/ a late model Fbody. Just stop at 50-60mph. I wouldn't touch one on the highway if I were you. The STi will tear one up at a stoplight though, since the F-Body is so hard to launch properly.

Up until yesterday I was flat ignored by nearly everyone.
I'd felt like I was driving Wonder Woman's invisible car or something.
Then last night I go to meet some fellow Subie owners at a meet and suddenly I got nothign but attention. Thumbs up, Acura's revving on me, a ZO6 revving & following me for miles, a Hayabusa revving & following me, a Mustang GT owner following me and making sure to stop next to me at every red light to chat about the car, and even had an A4 owner with mods get all up on me. What a blast!
Today while running to DC to get lotto tix ($72M) a lady passenger in an S4 was flipping out giving me double thumbs up as her man passed me without as much as looking my way. Cool.
As for fun, I've been having more fun with this thing than I did when I was a kid with my slot cars racing sets. I LOVED slot car racing and still have a functional set to this day.
Then last night this happened (scroll up to my post); http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...10#post4437110
This car is more fun than a mouth full of 'Gummy Worms'!
It requires restraint though...

Well ,
I bought mine in Pittsburgh, then drove it 1500 mi back to Texas. Some of the places I stopped people looked at me like I fell from the sky..(oklahoma comes to mind)
Didnt go over 4200 rpm for the first 1000K , still had enough to whoop most ..but by the time I hit 1300 miles I had to start taking the offers..huge fun for the most part but I took a beatin from a mod-ed out Cobra...I punched @ 77mph with him behind me. he didnt come around (he had room) but when I finally pulled out @110 he nearly rear-ended me, he was so close he had to swerve..
Dont get me wrong , I love the car, but lets keep it real..it can be whooped, especially on the hwy, but it wont happen as often!

Janq, you raced a cavalier?
Was it even a contest? You could have beat him with half throttle, no?
Anyway, I know what you're saying about respecting this machine. It's always a huge test of self control and if you're not absolutely careful everytime you get the "urge" to break loose you can get into big trouble. Every time I do it, I get out of the car with rubbery legs from an adrenaline boost. Not many cars can boast that.

I could probably have taken him on my bicycle.
But seriously dude was revving on Taurses, mini-vans and regular POS cars as though his last name were Fittipaldi. I jumped on him just to shut him down a bit. It wasn't hard at all. I won't be doing such things again though as it was stupid.
I'll stick to my normal back roads & off-ramps to get my rocks off...
