I think a good reason to note might be that most of the people on this board like to mod their cars. And assuming that most of us dont have $32k lying around under our pillows, we would need to take out some sort of loan for this car. After you buy this car any mods you would do would be added onto the 32 you've already paid for the car. How much do you really wanna invest into a car, remember, cars depreciate in value all the time.

It definitely comes down to the age old question, "How fast do you want to go?" which is totally related to "How much do you want to spend?" Along with "How much performance can you get with the least amount of money?" Granted the limits of the STI's performance are prolly greater than that of the WRX, but I dont need a WRX or STI to push high 300hp @ the wheels, and I think some people can agree with that.

I dont need the fastest car on the road or an STI badge, just a fast car with AWD for a decent price. WRX fit the bill and as such, was purchased by me.

I was still pissed about just buying my car when I saw the STI specs though, maybe this is just a great big psychological sob pillow for those of us who wont be getting an STI!! ;.(

HA HA, i dont give a damn, props to anyone who gets one of these sick deathmobile's.

Thumbs up Thanks for this thread :)

I have a WRX already and it works wonderfully. I have got everything I will ever need, but the STI is just so perfect that I need excuses to hold me back. Here is what I come up with.

1. HID - Who needs them? My WRX has Cool Blue blubs which are bright enough (Not!)

2. No Stereo - What? I have to pay more for FM/CD? My WRX has the speakers upgrade + subwoofer. It rocks. I would be tired of the sound of 300 hp running (Not!)

3. Current WRX is a sleeper - STI will get too much attention. I will be the first to admit that the current WRX is not pretty, but I did not buy it for the looks. Why do I need something elegant to impress the girls or what?(why not?)

4. 300hp/300torque - the 0-60 will not be that much faster. My boss's M5 will still whip me, so why bother? (But now I have a chance to win in rain)

Oh well, why try

my reasons are as follows.

500 horse power wrx's are plenty of fun.

a cracked out sti would cost me upwards of 40k

and last but not least.

my male region is allready inflamed enought with my current WRX, if i was to get a sti it (male region) could be used to club people to death in iraq, with me ever having to leave my chair.

I've got one.

#18 (ish) It might make sense to wait one year until all of the bugs are worked out of this new turbo 2.5L.

Of course, this excuse expires Spring '04.

hey Al, what was wrong with your Sti conversion piece. wasn't that close enough to an STi? i mean, you did have basically the same engine and 6-speed transmission. that pretty much makes it a somewhat STi. i'm sure you'd smoke most of the WRX's on the track.
