how to avoid buying the new STi
ok...heres the thing. i have my 98' accord v6 that will last me like...a million more miles. it probably wouldnt hurt me all that much to get an STi but, its not what youd call a 'wise' financial decision. ive thought about just modding my v6 which amount to opening exhaust and adding $5k supercharger... maybe some better suspenion and being satisfied with that. lets face it. thats not very realistic.
i know there are lots of you out there like me who are dying to get this car, but for different reasons it may not be a good idea. the point of this thread is to come up with good ideas NOT to buy the STi.
for the jackasses and morons who are itching to point out the obvious...like the ridiculousness of this thread, or talk about 'true enthusiasts', or just say 'buy the car or not...who cares' do us a favor and dont post. we all have our priorities to juggle and they change moment to moment depending on the one thats in your hand and the one thats in the air. if you have a good idea, post. if you can poke holes in the ideas, post. if you have something humorous to say, definitely post. its not meant to be a deep discussion.
anyway, remember...think of good reasons NOT to buy the STi and lets pretend for a while that theyll actually work.
heres what ive come up with so far. everytime i open up a magazine i read about some concept car or some soon-to-come-out car that may be better, or i may be happier with. this seems to be working a little so far, but i still have a long way to go. this seems like a delay tactic at best, though. ok...poke away.

Reason # 1 - if you are a young punk the insurance will prob cost you $5 - 6,000.00 a year
reason # 2 - drive by wire sucks
#3 - two tone seats (i like black)
#4 - I like the way my WRX front end looks better
#5 - My WRX is much more of a sleeper - especially now that its covered by dents, scratches and dirt
- Anyway - I'm getting an STI in any event !

i keep thinking...as soon as i get this car, a car much better is going to be available within the week. think about the poor sucker who put down his nonrefundable deposit on the new EVO the day before the STi was announced. what a nightmare! yeah, yeah this is good stuff.

BUT - we did get the best STI ever - the most HP and the most features - - so looks like the STI is the winner
