Uh.. drmosh... Before you make such statements, have you ever bought a vehicle out-of-California and brought it in California without incurring any extra costs? A couple of years ago, I bought a brand-new Dodge Durango (granted it is US-made; but, it says that it is 50-state certified--whatever that means) in Nevada and brought it to Cali. Well, it never passed California Smog and I had to spend close to $2k to get it to pass! So, I don't think ALL cars are California-certified. If there's a place where you get your facts, point me to it! Here's the California DMV section that talks about I am talking about:

Now, that said, I may not know about Subarus (or WRX Sti, in particular)... Hey, note my profile name

So, if anyone has bought a Subaru and successfully brought it back to Cali for no extra charge/problem, please enlighten me!

Hey sub-newbie,

When you baught the Durango, besides the problem with the somg stuff, did you just have to pay the CA tax on the vehicle? Were there other charges? What were they?

I was from Nevada; so, I bought the Durango when I was a Neveda resident before I moved here to California. When I brought the Durango over here, I remember I had to pay license, registration fees and ... smog certificate, of course! But, I know where you are going! Hey, if anyone who is a California resident and has bought a vehicle out of state and brought it back in without having to pay Ca sales tax, please share some experience!

I work for a Subaru Dealer/Distribution
(Shuman Carriage) in Honolulu we have no mark up for sure.
We still don't know the price on the STI.

Shipping to state side (West coast) could save you some bucks.
We have 04 WRX/2.5rs here already.

Next month will be the debute on the 04 Subies.
They are just waiting for the rest of the distribution to
stock the supply up there state side.

prays it will be cause I REALLY want one, but I doubt it will be below 30k!

Hey sub-newbie,

Naaa, I'm new to this whole import car scene in terms of ownership. I've been lurking for a couple of years here. I was planning for a WRX. It was the right ride for the right price. I was planning on modding the hell out of it. Then the STi was announced. It just so happens that the STi is aligned with my trun for the new car and the end of my wife's car payment.
