This forum is gonna die soon....
There should be a vote to have a "STi specific forum"
after all we do live in a democracy
just my opinion.... not to start a coup d' etat or anything

All Impreza's have common ground. STi's are not that special. Nothing about them is groundbreaking comparing to a normal WRX.
If you do not know, understand or realize that, then you need to do some readings of archives here and the other site.
I went through this when the WRX came out already.
As far as democracy, yes, you are right. However, I listening to people that have been with i-Club for over 3 weeks more than those who have just got their first Subaru (STi) and want to re-invent the wheel.

Nothing Special? YOu gotta be smoking something. It's like two differnt cars. I havd both. It's like a set of sisters. You have the HOT one and the Average one. Which one would you pick. ( I know a bad example - Don't flame me I love to look at cars and Women )
The WRX to the STI is like the 4 cylinder mustang to the mustang cobra. I love both the WRX and the STI! but they are family but they do not act a like.

The correct name is Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Once an Impreza, always an Impreza. Deal with it.

Blue-Adept,
Yes, I am smoking something. I am smoking my experience and knowledge from working on every Subaru there is from EVERY Impreza, Forester, Legacy, SVX. You name it.
I will repeat. There is nothing SPECIAL about the Subaru Impreza WRX STi comparing to the Subaru Impreza WRX. When I say nothing special, I am not talking about which car is "average" and which car is "hot".
I am talking mechanical differences between the two. There are not that many of them and those that are there, are not significant. If you do not know that, you are simply poorly informed on what is what and probably just saw a fancy add in the magazine and got yourself the STi.
The chassis is the same.
The basic suspension components are the same.
The brakes are the same.
The transmission is the same. Yes, it is a 6-MT, but there are probably more 6MT equipped WRX's running around than the STi's.
The engine is different, but all the basic parts are the same too. Unless you are going to go "internal" they are the same.
That is why I think there is no need for the STi specific forum since any WRX related discussion is benefitial to read and participate for both WRX and STi owners AS well as the 2.5RS owners.
Kapish?

Imprezer don't take that smoking thing as an insult. I just joke around like that.
I agree they are simular. But I love the fact that if we have two forums. It makes the searching for information easier. I know that the WRX stuff is in frorced induction and the STI stuff is in the STI area. I work with Data and Systems all day long and we always diferentate data simular but different. I know the cars share X in common but Y makes the differnce. It seams like lately everyone takes things too seriosly. WRX ot STI, they are just cars. I think that when you merge forums we have to make sure that when people post they make sure the identify what type of Impreza in the title. I have been on this board for almost 3 years and it seams like things are getting too stessed.

I know you were not insulting me.
Neither was I insulting you.
However, here is the tricky part I had to deal with before.
I cannot just leave a single STi for for all STi related discussions as it will clutter very fast with random stuff.
So, first off, the STi forum needs to be split into 2. Technical and nontechnical forums.
Then, if we have an STi tech forum, it needs to be split into engine, suspension, brakes, etc.
The non-tech forum will need to have a warranty forum and general discusioon.
HOWEVER!!!!
We already have all that.
Most i-Clubbers have interest in all Subaru's and want to read and participte in most discussions.
Splitting the current forums and the STi forum into 2 separate "versions" will cause chaos.
Hope this makes sense.

First of all .. your justification for saying that there is nothing special about the STI sounds like some convoluted mental path that you forced yourself through to not be envious of the STi
using the same logic, there is nothing special about a Porsche Turbo vs a C4S .. there is nothing special about an M3 vs. a 33Ci ... there is nothing special about a Clio V6 vs a standard Clio ... there is nothing special about a Lotus Exige vs. a standard Lotus Elise ... there is nothing special about an Integra Type R vs an Integra GS-R ... well guess what .. all those cars have there own forums for a good reason ...
I think the WRX is a great car .. but I never considered buying one ...
I only look at one forum when I come on here ... the STi countdown forum ... I don't want to sort through even more mindless drivel to find the info I want.
one more thing .. what sort of feeble minds fall into "chaos" when one board is split into two? .... oh no the sky is falling
