Not much difference except the K&N cost more. For any future warranty issues its safer to use the stock filter#15208aa060 for wrx 2.0/ 15208aa080 for Sti and drain plug crush washer 11126aa000. $5.00-$9.00 .

I used the K&N, but who knows if it is better.
They advertise "Heavy-duty construction provides up to 550 PSI hydrostatic burst strength" and it will filter 12-16 GPM. Both factory and K&N filters filter down to 10-20 microns. I have had great luck with K&N air filters so I thought that I would give the oil filter a spin.

Yes. It is the same filter for 2003 wrx's. Fram 3593A. The back of the K&N oil filter box cross refrences the fram oil filter number. I think it was HP 1004.
I switched to Mobil 1 today at 440 miles.
Interesting site...it says to avoid FRAM though.

I would personally just stick with the factory filter. There is nothing wrong with them. Plus they have the pressure release valve at the bottoms of the filter which many aftermarket ones do not have.

Dont ever use fram. They are garbage and its been shown time and time again. There really isnt huge differences between filters though. I would just use a mobil filter or an stp since they make those too. But there are also those new reusable oil filters that are coming out. Kinda like a k&n air filter, but for the oil.
