Changing my Fuel Filter???
Has anyone changed there fuel filter on a WRX yet. Do I have to release the pressure in the fuel system or can I just close my eyes when I pull the hoses LOL? Is it as simple as just pulling the hoses of the old filter. Oh yeah where is it I haven't taken a look yet, probably buy the tank somewhere? Thanks
The filter is a small round canister attached to the driver side strut tower. It is held in place by a spring clamp with a latch you release by hand, no tools needed. Other than that it's just a matter of removing and reinstalling the fuel lines that go to it.
It is a good idea to release the residual fuel pressure in the system before opening any lines, this can be done by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine. It should begin to catch and then die, do this once or twice and the pressure will be relieved. Have a rag or shop towel on hand when loosening the lines as some fuel will still come out.
Make sure to put the fuel pump relay back when you're done.
Once the new filter is in place the fuel system will be full of air so the car won't want to start right away. Prime it a bit by turning the key to "run" for a few seconds without starting the engine, then back to off. Repeat this a few times, then proceed to actually crank the engine. It may still take more cranking than usual before it starts but once it fires it should run normally.
Check the new filter carefully for any leaks while the engine is running and you are done.

I've done 2 fuel filter changes- without the release of pressure.
if you look at the filter, there is one for out and one for in. take the out off first, then carefully take off the in, hold it up so it doens't pour all over the place. connect the new filter in opposite order
start the car- don't worry it'll stall. start again and it should be fine
speed safely

I remember you have to pull a wire on the passenger side and set the key to run. There was good instruction on this site a long while back.
Removeing the glove compartment actually was the longest part.
