Boost?

Does anyone have any ideas how much boost the STi will be running?

The amount of boost is not much of a concern since you can control it via boost controller.

The STi won't have a boost controller. Boost management can be handled electronically or manual. Manual boost controllers can be had for under $50.

The guy asked a simple question, and it was not "how do you manipulate the boost with aftermarket parts." Either you know the answer or you don't. Why answer a question he didn't even ask?

mkim: to answer your question, Subaru hasn't released specific information relating to amount of boost. For what it's worth (not much), guesstimates put it at about 14-15psi.

Really? Wow, that's interesting. So how do you suppose the STi will manage boost? Or do you think it will just pull timing when the boost starts pushing 18 or 20psi?

The internal wastegate.

Actually I'll just get right to the point and answer my own question. The waste gate is actuated by a boost control solenoid.

I remember reading something that said 14-15psi also.

That is true, but the boost control solenoid is not needed. It can be totally controlled via wastegate or electronic/manual boost controller.

Here's my point, which you seem determined to miss:

By whatever method the wastegate is actuated, it is a boost control system. To say the STi will not have a factory boost controller is just factually wrong. I don't know if you think it's only a boost controller if you can adjust the boost or what.
