blind faith
somewhere on this forum or another, i'm not too sure, i read that there was no test drive for the STi. is this true? to me that sounds absurd to buy a car with just the look of it. i can understand the dealer if the same guy comes in to test drive it for months on end until he can buy it, but what about those serious prospective buyers? i would certainly like to drive it before i drop all the money i've saved for the last five years.

All the cars that will be sold this year are just about already sold. Diehards like the people on this site have had deposits on cars for months. Even before the price came out. There are none around to test drive. I don't want someone testing the car that I have my deposit on. Mid to late next year you may find one sitting in a dealership without a deposit on it and then you will be able to test drive one.

For me: I already own a WRX and all I need to know is that it's more powerful and handles sharper. That enough for me.
That said, most folks on this site seems to be a little obsessed with cars. (And I mean that in a good way.) Snatchin up first run cars without driving them is the norm for car fanatics who pride themselves on knowing all the ins and outs mechnically. It leads us to believe that we "know" what the actual driving experience will be like. Of course, if it sucks, you can always sell it , right?

Test drive
Well someone correct me if i was lied to... but my dealer said that if i dont like the car within the first month of actualy driving it off the lot.... i can return it for a refund.
Sounds alittle odd... but since there werent any test drives for it, and the car was in such high demand i thought it to be reasonable.
Anyone else hear anything of this sort?

Fair enough. We all have different tastes. I admit that chrome turns me off in an instant... Also not a big fan of 19/20" wheels on subcompacts.
To each his own!

I got to test- drive an STi without buying one...but I've had a deposit on one since January. I just didn't take delivery of the month. On that note, a few of us here are the original few owners of RS's left in the state and were the first to get the RS when they came out. Couple that with the fact we are always helping the dealer put events together, so I guess it was kinda like a perk.

I think the same thing was said about the WRX in 2001. I say no way. I bet you see them sitting on the lot.
