Hey ppl,
Im new to this board and will soon be getting an STI. What are the best respected subaru performance part companys out there?? I would like to do a nice exhaust from the turbo back. Whats a good setup?? Also what parts are most popular for modding these cars??
I currently own a gt mustang and companies such as steeda, saleen, kenny brown, borla are all well known for their quality and results. I want to get the same kind of companies for when I get my sti. Thanks for the help

Cobb and Vishnu are probably the top two tuning companies.
Cobb is extremely well respected and they seem to conservatively rate their power gains and keep safety very high; however, the only thing to keep an eye out for is that some of their parts are rebadged brands and they sell them for a nice little markup. So if you can find the exact product somewhere else, you'll save money elsewhere. But for tuning experience, you can't beat them.
Vishnu (Shiv) is also highly respected and has made some great mods for the WRX and tuning packages. He's also a little more interactive on these sites than the Cobb people (although Cobb has a very active website forum).
As far as other mainstream companies, TurboXS also does some great stuff.
Hope that helps getting you started. Check out the aftermarket forums on here for more information.

Prodrive
Depends on what you actually intend to do with the car......a daily driver, regularly tracked, rallied etc ?
From my personal perspective (used mainly as a daily driver) my money's on Prodrive...........they help prepare the works rally cars and are obviously investing lots of money in the US........expect some very nice products from them for the USDM STi in the not-too-distant future i.e. mods which all work well together and enhance the performance without degrading the driveability or longevity of the engine/drivetrain (rather than a nice long list of aftermarket parts from different JDM vendors just to impress your friends).

Easy Street Motorsports is a SoCal based company that is becoming well known in the drag racing scene. They have different packages for the WRX and they are now offering STI packages.Check out their website at EasyStreetMotorsports.com
They are cool people and they treat their customers very well.
They also have the world record for a WRX at 9.98 at 141 mph.
Check them out!

It sounds like some tuners have certain priorities or at least areas they know really well. Easy Street, for example, will build you a great drag car, while Cobb is going to know the ins and outs of what you need for an autocross car. The two are wildly different and extreme tuning for one will probably leave you unhappy at the other (example: some tuners put huge turbos in, which make great top end power for the drag strip or bragging rights, but will suck horribly for autocross, where you don't need 400hp at 8000rpm at the expense of massive turbo lag). Vishnu should be good all around, and of course if Prodrive gets something together it should be nice.
