Bad news for my STI

Insurance is going to take care of me pretty good. I just have to still pay the deductable. Good thing is that GEICO says that since it was caused by an uninsured motorist, it doesn't go against my record. Janq You're right. Suing someone that doesn't have the money to begin with is a waste of time and resources. Besides I'm not home long enough to sue anyone, but don't tell anyone else that.

DISAGREED.. Usually rich cheap ****** drive without insurance, or pretend they do..
It is illegal to drive without insurance... I hope u had cops on the scene of accident and they took all the info.. Then, as downshift said: Sue the bastard. I am sure he got a house, a car, some money in the bank, etc... Plus cops can and should press charges for driving without insurance, which is illegal everywhere, except missisippi, as far as I remember..

Yes driving with no insurance is illegal in most states, and immoral in all, but thats why most states have uninsured motorist protection & restrictions (which we all pay for). It'll all be okay and what goes around comes around. Dude will pay, some day or another.

all im saying is that i know he is poor, but he still can be sued, because he still has money. if u sue u will win watever he has because in the report its %100 his fault, he smashed into you, his fault. he will lose in court. simple. i dont sympathize for him, and u are too kind to sympathize for him, i admire that, but i dont sympathize irresponsible drivers with no insurance and hitting brand new STi's!! in fact id say.. F them! he can crash his POS car into a river for all i care. as long as he dont smash anymore STi's. stupid idiot!

Janq you're right. Homie lives in an apartment, he's married and probably immigrated here with three kids. I'm single, got money to burn (to a certain extent) and my insurance is covering me. He's broke and is probably busting his *** (excuse the french) to feed his family. Like I said the STI will be fine without any permanent damage. Sure it should be a crime to smash into an STI but they also call them accidents for a reason. One time I was driving my 03 WRX and the Sun was shining in my front window so bright, I couldn't see jack. Before I knew it I had gone completely threw a stop sign at a three way intersection and before I could react, I smashed over the curb and onto the side walk. ABS kicking in the whole way and I was only doing about 30mph. Still no permanent damage to the WRX and of course it was an accident.

Another option:
You said that the guy understood little english or whatever, so tell him that you won't bring the police into it, but that he now has to arrive at your place of residence every Saturday morning and wash your car and clean the wheels of all that Brembo brake dust. Maybe a 9 month long sentence should do it. It sounds stupid but its also cool when you do not have bring higher authority into it but rather work the problem out yourself. Sue happy freaks out there actually work to give the courts more money and hence more power. --> We all know that liberal courts do not need more power.

I'm sorry, downshift (and this has NOTHING to do with J-REX's events) but ... IT'S A CAR! That doesn't equate to someone's liveliness. It was an accident and, as Janq said, assuming the guy has more human emotions than you do, he probably feels just as bad about it. I know I'd feel aweful if I hit someone's new nice car! The point is, it was an accident, it's getting resolved. No need to take out blood here.

Ok. Semi-rant over... glad to see J-REX handled it well. And, J-REX, I'm really sorry to hear that story. I'm super paranoid when driving my new STi (especially since my MY02 RS got a little hit on the bumper two weeks ago). Hope everything works out alright!

i dont get you, people need to take responsibilities for their actions, accident or not. he should of NOT been driving if he had no insurance, otherwise he needs to pay J rex with his own money because J rex never deserved to get his new STi smashed up by some idiot.
its pretty stupid to smash up someone new car. especially when u are supposed to keep your eyes on t he road and not speed.

Alright guys and girls, The dude that hit me gets his own. A police report was files and they'll issue him a big fat ticket. If he don't pay then they'll issue him a big fat bench warrant which is a voucher for some motel 6 time. GEICO will sue him for the repair money you can count on that. Insurance com[panies love to get their money and we all know that. So homie's gonna get what's coming to him.

I took my beautiful VW Corrado VR6 to Italy for three years without a scratch on it. It became a Fiat magnet got hit four times, none of them drive with insurance in Naples, they just hit you and keep driving. By the time I left the only panel that was not dented was the drivers side door. The car was junk when I got back. sold it for 1/4 what it should have been worth. The good news is I got a WRX.
