I have the auto mirror on my 02 WRX and it works great. Some AH can be behind you with high beams on, you'll know it but won't care. It's dimming is gradual depending on how bright the lights are. I'll insist on it with my STi, if one ever shows up.

I plan to purchase the auto dimming mirror just to act as a 'cover' for this;
For more info go to this reseller; http://www.ecisbmw.com/product_files...%20Display.htm
I've 'misplaced' the link to the actual manufacturer though they can modify any manuf. rear view mirror to offer same functionality & results. When I re-locate their link I'll post it for you guys.

Just a heads up, there is an even better mirror out there by the same manufacturer. It's Magna denolly or something like that. it has the ambient air temp right next to the compass dirrection, and it has map light under it. From the seats you can not tell the difference. It works very well, and the map light are invisible to the driver at night. Much better than the lights on the roof. I guess since you are getting this for an STi the temp isn't so important to you as it's already on the dash, but for me (04 wrx) I needed it. Sorry, but I lost the link to it.

The product is customized to the buyers OEM mirror which they provide and then is returned to them with the 'enhancements'.
My plan is to purchase the auto dimming mirror and then sendit to the these guys for enhancement. Reason being is that cops are not stupid.
They are hip to the 'hidden' installs of radar detctors in the headliner et al and they know to look for power wires dangling from where they shouldn't be etc. But witht he auto-dimming mirror being an OEM/factory item (option) and having its own clean/factory looking power source it can act as the perfect cover for a "invisible" installation of a radar detector.
Go to the website link I posted with the pics for more info.

Another mod I'll be adding is the the Lidatek LE-20 laser jamming device.

I plan to get the dual trasnponder setup as used for SUV's but install the second transponder at the rear.
