The wiring is supposed to already be there. It should be a very easy swap out.

its easy dude

sorry, i though subaruparts.com had the instructions on a pdf file, but they don't. all you do is take off your mirror you have now, remove the dome light housing, pull back the headliner fabric, plug it in to wires that are already there, and then clip in the little whoosie whatsit plastic thing that covers up the wire. seriously, it took me like 15 minutes from when i opened the door to get in until i was all done. then you have to go find a parking lot and drive around in circles until it stops blinking (thats how you calibrate it to north)

granted, mine is an 03 wrx, not your STi, but as long as the wires are there it shouldn't take you any longer. you could even take a peek in there ahead of time if you don't trust a dealer to tell you if the plug is there or not. it just looks like a two or three pin automotive snap connector that just kinda sits up above the dome light housing. I love mine, wish it had outside temp though... i think the one for the STi will, lucky sob haha anyways, get it dude, the compass is way cool, and the autodim is even cooler. later, Bennie

Isn't the '03 WRX and '04 STi dimming mirror the same exact thing?
Yes it is{according to my dealer}. One guy switched his out of his 2003 wrx and put it in his STi.

Talking its easy dude

you just take out a little allen screw and twist the whole mirror a quarter-turn and it just pops off. there is a little metal thingy that remains glued to the window. then you just quarter-twist your new compass mirror onto the metal thingy and tighten down the allen screw. when you buy the mirror it comes with good instructions.

advice: before you go plop down money for it go to subaruparts.com and get their price, then go into the dealer parts counter and tell them what you can get it for online. one place told me they'd markup to match my shipping costs, and the other one just sold it to me for the online price, no questions asked. hahaha thats the same place that quoted me $7995 over MSRP for an STi... they smoke some wicked stuff there, eh??? later, Bennie
