There is a difference between the #1 spot at your deal and the first STI. Your dealer may not even get one in the first allocation. And you cannot prove that he will until it is there because Subaru has not announced how the allocations wil be done. If you could somehow prove that it would be the first STI in the US or the east coast you might have something, but you can't. First STI is already sold in HI, first on the east coast will come at the same time as the other 300 on the east coast, so you have nothing to offer.

if it is 300 cars - then that aint too much - - - All i know is that this dealer is getting at least ONE STI in the first allocation and that I have that car under contract - who gets it first or second is not that big an issue to me - all that is important is that this sale's order will get you the car for sure right away when they start being sold

Your dealer may not even let you do it, especially when they find out your getting $500 they could have themselves. If you don't want the car, give up your spot and take your deposit back. There is no reason to charge for your spot. Give it away or give it up. You can see that everyone agrees with me.

 

I would rather just let someone else take over my spot than to ask the dealer for a refund of a deposit thats been in place for over 6 months - the sale's order says clearly "DEPOSIT NON-REFUNDABLE" The dealer has no problem with me transfering the contract to another buyer - so long as they are a private party and not a dealer
