XM Prices just went up 30%... Dang greedy Bastages!
So, XM got all kinds of subscribers, because 10 bucks a month sounds pretty reasonable if you can't stand the lousy programming, commercials, and static with FM.
I was really happy with the programming, and then they added tons of programming that I never listen to.. sports, politics, etc..etc.
Well, guess what? They just raised their price to 13 bucks a month. I guarantee it's a sign of things to come, and am willing to bet it will hit $20 in a year or two.
I even wrote two of their feedback aliases with my comments, and was told that the increase was to cover additional programming! Stupid M-Fers... why don't they just sell that crap as premium channels?
Needless to say, I just pitched my 2nd radio.
I'm I a cheap bastage? Yup.
How much does sirius cost?

Sirius costs about the same as XM will now.
They have added additional services although you may not use all or most of them, many subscribers won't. But many will. Part of this is that they are no longer charging an extra $2/mo. for the premium channel that carries Opie and Anthony, so they can compete more directly with Sirius when Howard Stern moves over there. I personally don't care about any of that but a lot of people do.
One thing that you may want to take advantage of is that all XM subscribers will now be able to use their online streaming for free, previously they charged an additional $3.99/mo. for it.
Since I'm happy with XM, my response to the increase was to sign up for a 2-year prepayment plan which discounts the monthly amount to about $8.

Oh well, I guess I'm just a cheapo =).
No, the incentive is still in effect. You can see the offer on the XM site or if you got the notice in the mail about the increase it's in there too. There is a chart of prepayment options for 1 or more years in advance that shows the effective monthly rate for each one.
You have until April 2 to sign up.
