What is the best way to play my I-pod?

So im getting tired of listening to CD's and I want to play my I-pod in my car but I dont know anything about stereo stuff. I want something with good sound quality. I dont like the things that play it through a radio station because in my experience the quality sucks. So what do you recomend? Should I just get a new deck with an aux port? Open to all suggestions, Thanks

Hey, I live in San Ramon. Do you know that car audio shop off of Village Parkway in Dublin? It's in the complex with Jack in the Box and Los Perico's. It's called United Car Stereo. My friend Billy works there and can hook you up with a great deck that I use now.

This is the deck that I am currently using:

http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ida-x305s

I absolutely love it, and if you want a hook-up, you can get it hooked up for less than the price of what is listed on that site. It doesn't have a cd player, which I like because I don't like keeping CD's in my car. I just hook my iPhone up to it and when I leave the car, take my phone with me.

Also, since the deck connects to the iPod/iPhone through USB, it charges it, and you control all of the music through the deck.

Shoot me a PM if you want any more details.

Ive got a pioneer and it has a ipod specific hook up.

Plugs into the back of the deck and the wire runs under the dash into the glove box.

Charges the ipod and you control everything through the deck or remote

Yeah I hate controlling the music through the deck. Anyone have any ideas for how I can control it from my iPhone?

i have a pioneer deck, model # deh-p5000ub i believe. It also has a ipod specific hook up, for months i listened to my ipod with having to control it through my deck. I found out that if you hold the RDM (it also says ipod underneath this button) button on the deck for like 5 seconds or so, it switches the control from the deck to the ipod... The reason i mention this is because for you guys that have this button, it might solve your problem with having to control your ipod through your deck.

i got a pioneer deck that plays iphone pandora or ipod and even Dtunes! it controls everything but dtunes by deck or iphone itself. Charges while playing... front and rear usb. Its a great deck with great sound from iphone. If you have a call while playing music, it will stop the music and notifies u that a call is happening. The music resumes after the call is done. Its a 6000ub or something i forgot the model number. I got it at bestbuy for 199.99 and installed it myself.

for the best sound quality you will want to run it through a USB. Unfortunately if you go through a USB you generally have to control the iPod through the stereo. If you go for a touch screen unit the controls are pretty easy and manageable. I have a Pioneer AVH-P4100DVD with the iPod interface and the whole thing works really well. And you are in luck because I am thinking about selling my set-up. https://www.i-club.com/forums/norcal-classifieds-96/gauging-interest-pioneer-avh-p4100dvd-225118/ just in case you are interested.
