Tweeters?

I have a 98 Impreza L and right near the door handles there is a grill for tweeters and i thought i had them. Out of curiosity the other night i put my ear there and heard nothing. Is this just an empty spot for an upgrade or do i have blown tweeters?
If you didn't get the premium sound system when you bought the car you don't have the tweeters. I have an OBS 99 and addes an 6 1/2 components in the front, took out the door panel and found no tweeters there, so i have to drill a new hole for my new tweeters.

Very easy. Especially once you've done it a couple times. Just be very careful when pulling the clips that hold the panel on out.
They're those little push in plastic ones that don't come out easy the first time but they rip out of the panel material VERY easily. If you have a clip puller or a small flat head screw driver and take your time you will be fine. First unscrew the little "cup" part of the handle (one screw in the bottom) and take out the cup. Then you need to take off the surround for your door handle- pry the top and bottom, it should 'snap' out and pull it off from around the actual handle. Then I start on the latch side at the top, work your way down (about 4 clips to bottom) then along the base. You should be able to just get your hand under it now and just pull slowly until you get to the top of the other side. The whole panel will be hanging by a few metal clips down into the window area you can just carefully lift it up and away from the door but don't pull hard, you have to unplug the harness for all your windows and stuff or you'll rip it out. That's it! Re-hang it and just push around the edges and the push clips snap right in.
