turbo timer?
Hello all,
I am new to the WRX world and this is my first car with a turbo. I appoligize for what may appear to be a stupid quesion, but do I need to buy a turbo timer for the car? If yes, what would you recomend? Any ideas would be helpful.

i think you should do a search... there are many opinions on a turbo timer. some say that cars with turbos now a days dont need them because they are more efficient at cooling. i personally have one, mine is the blitz, i mounted next to the cupholder, right under the vent.

Subaru makes it very clear why the WRX does not need a turbo timer. However, if you want peace of mind from one, then go right ahead. They all do the same thing in basically the same way.
I have one installed in my car and i barely use it now. After i turn the ignition off, i just shut off the timer. Saves me gas. At first i wanted cause it seemed like a cool mod, now i think its useless.

I doubt they'd give you crap regarding warranty. You also don't have to make the install obvious. Mines fairly stealthy and for the most part I leave it on its auto setting and leave it alone. Its also more stealthier if you get an RPM-based unit instead of a boost-based unit.

i have not had any problems with warranty having installed the turbo timer. i have to say tho, it is kind of annoying that the car stays on when you're like getting gas etc..
i don't think it's that important to have one for daily driving...

I installed a Greddy turbo timer, I figured it wouldn't hurt to add it as an additional precaution.
As it was mention in a previous post a turbo timer is not needed. The choice is up to you.
