Toggle switch for Double Din?

I bought a Pioneer Double Din, about to do the install. I heard about grounding the parking brake but Pioneer has a new software that wont let you do that anymore. I purchased a switch...Just need a few steps on how to do it..

thanks

i just installed my buddies pioneer and bypassed it by using a relay.. it works like a charm! i liked the idea about the switch but he didn't want to worry about hitting a switch everytime he wanted to watch something..

I just hook mine up to the parking brake and loosen the parking brake just enough so it will roll fine with it at one click or just when the light comes on. The parking brake still functions as a brake on a steep hill and all. but do it at your own risk not just because mine works fine.

Been in the audio business for over 15 years and this is the easiest mod to do and well worth it and better than an annoying swith.

1. Purchase a standard 12 volt 5 pin relay
2. Look at the pins and you will notice that they are numbered: 30, 85, 86, 87, and 87a
3. Take pins 87 and 86 and GROUND them with the radio ground
4. Pin 85: The remote turn-on (amp turn-on) blue wire goes here.
5. Pin 30: Parking brake wire from the radio (long light green for Pioneer) goes here.

Thats it! That is all it takes. When you turn the radio on the relay clicks on making the radio think that the parking brake is grounded. If you aren't good with wiring I can make you one and mail it to you.

^^I did the same thing with my AVH-P4200DVD and it worked like a charm. However, once I installed a Bluetooth and Navigation add-on, it stopped working and I had to put in a manual switch.

The relay I bought didnt work, so I just swapped a pin and got my Pioneer AVIC 9115BT to work.

I used youtube to find a similar unit and just started moving wires till it worked since my unit is a rarer unit.
