Sub box dimensions.
Sub box dimensions. I was curious as to what is a good type of box for either one one or two 12" subs. Sound quality is whats most important to me.. I listen to alot of REAL instrument music (guitar, drums, percussion, bass) stuff like that I have a couple of old Orion XTR 12's and want to make a box. any suggestions for an 02 WRX?
The box I have is 15.9"h x 30.5"w x 10.8"d. It gives you 1 cubic foot per sub, and fits pretty good in the trunk (04wrx). I am running 2 Orion p12 subs so the air space is perfect. I used to have 2 Xtr series 2 and I think they require 1.25 cubic foot per sub if I can remember correctly, so you should make the box a little deeper to gain some airspace.
If you want max efficiency you have to build the box to suit your speakers. Look in the speakers' documentation, it will give you the ideal volume. If you want a ported or bandpass enclosure that will be different dimensions too.
Like myblueheaven I have two 12s (Infinity) with 1 cu. ft. each. I built my box so that it jams into my trunk and doesn't move without a single piece of mounting hardware.
