Speakers in the rear deck
Anyone put speakers in the rear deck above the back seat in a WRX? I climbed into the trunk and it looks like there are cutouts for speakers, but what size? I want a little fuller sound and I think deck speakers might do it.

I was actually considering putting speakers in with angled risers. If you use custom boxes you can put in whatever size you want. Now I just need the $. What sort of speakers are you considering?

The system is 100% stock. With the current setup, I can barely hear the rear door speakers. My last car had fron door, rear door, front tweeters, and rear deck speakers. The sound even from the stock system was 100% better, and you felt right in the middle of the music. I miss that.

I would put the money into replacement front speakers and maybe an amp for them. Get something you like the sound of to start then make it LOUD!!!

I put Focal 6 1/2's in the rear deck of my STi. It sounds alot better their than in the rear doors.
By the way i'm seeling some of my audio stuff. Here is a list: Eclipse DA7122 (2000x1) $500
Alumapro 5 farad capacitor $200 (2) 12' RF HX2's $300. I need to sell all of it. I might go alittle cheaper if you buy all.

I took the back deck covering off (carpet) and they fit inside the holes. You have to move them around to get them stable. Then just screw them in. I didn't cut nothing. The top cover fit perfectly over them so you can't see the speakers at all.

It doesn't sound muffled at all. The carpet is like having a grill on front of your speaker. If it muffles it, I can't tell. Try it and see what you think. But, you'll get a better sound with the speakers in the back deck than low in the back doors.
