Can i fit speakers in the rear deck of my WRX??
I know this belongs in the audio tech forum, but i posted about this there and i got no reply....
I was wondering if you can fit some 6x7's or something of that sort in the rear deck of 2002 WRX sedan....
also is anybody running 6 1/2's in front without spacers and no depth issues, also is anybody running rear doors speakers (i know they are fillers) but i might put some nice speakers in either the rear doors or the rear deck if possible...
Thanks in advance...
Rocky

I don't see why not, you just have to measure and cut your rear deck, the whole piece should come out of the car easily after you take apart your rear seat, or maybe not even, i'm not sure cuz i've never tried, but taking my rear seat apart i've noticed there isn't too much holding that rear deck there.

the rear deck is part of the car, cant take it out... but its sheet metal that is pretty easy to cut... i would suggest painting the exposed edges after you cut the deck to size to prevent rust...

this will help you take the rear seat out

6x9 installed in rear deck WRX
Ive installed MB quart 6x9's in the rear deck. If your gonna be cutting anyway might as well get the 6x9 for the nice bass response.
I used a dremel to cut the metal out after making a template.
worked out well and sounds great!

speaker mounting location on the rear doors are horrible as they are aimed at the passengers' feet. i don't think it'll make a big difference whether you put quality speakers in the rear doors or not. i have mb quart coaxials in there for fillers...works well and does what i want it to do.
i wouldn't mind checking out a wrx with speakers on the rear deck though...

db,
I will tell you that in my configuration the rear is heavyily owerpowering the front. I will be replacing the front pioneer coaxials with MB Reference 6.5" seperates soon to help rememdy this problem. I dont run an amp, just hi deck power (23x4 RMS).
Good luck
