speakers
well when i first got my car i was happy with what i had. now only 2000 miles later i hate the speakers lol. could you guys recommend some good speakers, im really not looking at getting a sub, just some good speakers and maybe a mp3 headunit down the road. i was looking at the infinity kappas...
boston, focals, ads are in a different price range. infinity kappa's are ok. better then stock kinda pitchy at times becuz of the tweeters. i would go for mb quarts but they are hella expensive too.! try jbl gti's they get rave reviews!
Just make sure when you get something you get it suited for you. Consider the kinds of music you listen to most. Go down to your Kats audio or tweeters or another quality audio store and give them all a listen. In my opinon though i wouldn't go with kappa's. Boston and Focals are definatly really good. And if you have the money i heard the new momo Polk's are good and hey...atleast the look cool if nothing else!

hey guys i appreciate all the input...just to let you know i mainly listen to rock, i personally cant stand the constant thumping noise a sub gives. so i mainly want speakers that will sound clear and give me some decent bass. i will def go down to my audio store to listen to a few of them
If you're looking for bass, I would recommend the Infinity Basslink system. It's a standalone systerm with a 10 in. subwoofer and a built-in 200 watt amplifier. I have it mounted in my trunk.

The difference between component speakers and 2/3 ways:
2/3 way speakers are a single unit. You run one pair of wires to them and you're done. Components are where the tweeters and woofer unit are physically separate. The separation allows you to install each component of the speaker in a different location. Components are wired by running one set of wires to a crossover unit, which separates the signals to be sent to the tweeter and woofer. Wires are run to the tweeter and woofer separately from the crossover.
As a rule of thumb, components require much more power than 2/3 ways. It is always best to power components with a separate amp. Components also tend to cost much more than your typical 2/3 way speakers.
