Speaker recommendation
I'm looking at upgrading my door speakers; I'm looking for something with decent midrange bass and overall clarity when amplified adequately. I haven't decided yet, but I might upgrade the rear with some decent midrange fillers, or maybe 2 8" subs if I'm up to the challenge. So far I've looked at:
- Boston Acoustics ProSeries 6.5" 2ways
- CDT CL-61 2ways
- Focal 165v Slims
I popped open my door panels and wow is it shallow in there. It seems I'll need to make some huge spacers if I want to fit anything in there. I'd like to avoid any major modification to the door panels if possible (Just so I don't affect resale value of my car). Has anyone installed the aforementioned component sets in a GC8? BTW, I recently installed an Alpine 9811 HU.
Any info and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've always been a Boston guy and probably always will be. For the money the Pros can't be beat. And if you like them you'd LOVE the Z series but beware.....don't listen to them unless you got the money.....there's no turning back once you hear them
I believe most people go with a 3/4" spacer up front. If you'd like I can email you a pic of my Z6 install, just give me an address.

I know Boston & Focal. Don't know anyone who bought the CDT's but they seem to have a decent reputation. I've had Boston, MB QUART, & ADS over the years. I run Boston's now and like them a lot. You should absolutely get out and listen though and not just off a dealer demo board but in a car.
Your ears shall set you free!

I personally run the Z-series in my front and Pros in the rear... gotta say I love them and wouldnt have it any other way! just MAKE SURE you have clean power to push them! I cant emphasize enough how critical power is to these speakers!
But on a side note for recommendation, I have installed and listened to the Infinity Perfects and Boston Pros, both which sounded exceptional. The bostons tend to have a lot of tweeter, ESPECIALLY the pro line! The Rally line has a little less high and isnt quite as harsh. Im also a big fan of the Alpine Type R separates with their incredible mid range and accurate highs! If your ever at the Vivid Meets let me know and I will be happy to let you have a listen!

Just wondering what kind of power you're running and what kind of front/rear balance you have. Rear door mounted speakers suck!

I'm running the Zs of xtant1.1 (these amps rock!!!), my W6 off a xtant 6.1, and the rears off deck power because I wanted everything under my seats and I've run out of room. I know I should have gone with more efficient coaxs in back but i had the pros from before (and i love um).
