I just recently got my 01 RS and was wondering do subys get stolen that often or if there is any weak points I should put crazy locks and boobie traps at or something. Cause as a honda owner I had to sleep with 1 eye open to make sure no one jacks my car.

Does subaru have like a chip in the key like how new model hondas and other cars have? Should I have to worry about my car that much being stolen? Or are they more likely to be broken in and stuff jacked rather then the whole car?

 

Well at least out here on the East Coast in the NY/NJ area, we do have a serious theft problem with the new-body WRX's and STi's. However the earlier GC-style cars are so far pretty safe, I'm not aware of any that have been stolen despite the dozens of WRX's and STi's that have been. Break-in might be an issue especially if your car is nice and you have any items of value visible inside.
Unless you know of a specific problem in your area, I don't think you need to go crazy fortifying your car, but a good alarm as well as some additional layers of protection (i.e. kill switch) would be a good idea.
