Rockford Fosgate
Im going to put a sub in this weekend and was looking for suggestions,Both setups use 10" sub/s. I was looking at a single Rockford Fosgate HE2 RFP3210 which has a 400watt RMS handling power with a 350 watt amp(Rockford Fosgate Power 351M), or two Rockford Fosgate punch Z's which have a handleing power of 150 watts with a 300 watt amp(Rockford Fosgate Punch 301M). Its cheaper to get the duel set up but it takes up more space, and doesnt run as much power. I never owned any subs before and dont know what harder hitting and better sounding, the two 150's or the single 400. Any suggetions are welcome. Thanks. O if it matters I have a Pioneer DEH-P7400MP headunit.

When I did My system I wasnt really taking weight into consideration (I did 3 audiobahn 12's) but..If i were to ever re-do my system to a more practical system, I would probably do the 1 10 or 1 12...I prefer to run systems in odd numbers because its either a 'clean bass' or its 'make car alarms go off and have neighbors complaining' in my opinion there is no middle ground for me...

another fan of the single sub.
go with a better ten and you will be happier. if you want more bass, go with a single 12. anything more than that is just show (or competition if you are in to that)
the he2 is a dual voice coil right?

I would go with the single 10 rather than the Dual 10 set up. I am guessing at the specs on the speakers but from the general numbers you have provided I would go with a higher power single speaker system. Things like excursion or Xmax values as well as power handling go a long way toward a harder hitting system. Don't over look the fact that you should have a well designed box to go with the speakers. Power and Size are nothing without control, and thats where the box comes into play.
I just got my WRX and I haven't decided what to get yet. I was leaning toward a dual 8 setup for some really tight bass. My Integra GS-R currently has 3 JL Audio 10w6's running a total of 1000w. It is very tight and could be considered a groundpounder. I have heard other with nearly the same set up but they sounded like crap. It usually came down to a box that was the wrong size or design. Check the manufactures suggestions of box volumes as well as type. A sealed box lends itself to well controlled low frequency response vs. having something like a ported or bandpass design for a higher SPL (~volume/loudness) rating.
hopefully that was helpful, good luck and have fun with your new sound system.
peace.

The only single 10" sub I've ever heard that made me even consider it was a JL audio W7 10" in the JL box with a JL Amp. I'm a bass head and I'm running two 10" right now, though I'm not going to say what brand cuz they aren't mine and I wouldn't buy these if my life depended on it. As far as Rockfords go, I wouldn't go any lower then the punch HX2's personally
