Crutchfield isn't always right, I fit some Type-X Alpine components into a ford focus' front door.

I put Polk DB 6.5" up front and 5.25" in rear with adapter plates from I-A Performance, no problems, in my '03 wagon.

as long as you will be amping them. for deck power, type-s work a lot better. i had many speakers in my wrx including type-r and type-s. ended up with pioneer prs720 set utilizing a 1" spacer in front of my 2005. just barely fit.

DO NOT waste your time on upgrading the rear speakers on our cars. They're in a horrible position and the only thing you get is a little rear fill. Take the money you save on the rears and upgrade to better front comps OR get a small sub/amp/box setup.

You can still get a 4 channel just use the front two channels for the fronts and bridge the rears to a sub. You will be MUCH happier...trust me I have been through all of that.

In case this isn't clear...don't upgrade/replace the rear speakers in our cars...you are wasting money.
