removal of Fiberglass casing ???
I am thinking of buying and 03 WRX 6k miles and only asking 17,9 Perfect car but i not into the whole SOund System thing. I like regular speakers maybe and amp for loudness but this WRX has a custom fiber glassed into the trunck BOx with 12" and Amps and the dealer ship wont take it out, so if i buy is it a biger pain to get out than to have . I know it weigh's alot and i want my car lighter any one know

it sould be easy enough to take out, but depending on how much work they did, you might have to buy some replacement trim for your trunk, (floor mat, side triming, ect.) Any one with basic knowledge of hand tools should be able to handle the job.

IMO, do the logical thing and find another rex, leaving this one to someone who wants the stereo. It probably cost over a grand to install, so it would be a shame to just rip it out (not to mention getting all of the fiberglass off that is still stuck to the body once you cut it out).
For the person selling the car, I'm sure the price he paid for the install is somewhere in the asking price, so there may be something wrong with the car you don't know about. If he's got a huge stereo (I hate making stereotyped connections like this, but many hold true), lets just say that he probably had some fun in those 6k miles. My call: go buy grandma's car

if you absolutlely have your heart set on that one, if you take out the backseat and remove the trunk lid and rubber you MAY be able to get it out without taking a sawzall to it. After you have those obstructions out of the way take a floor jack and a large socket and jack the socket up through one of the drain holes in the trunk floor, this should break it loose without too much trouble. the biggest snag you'll hit then is whether that custom thing will fit through the tiny trunk opening Fuji Heavy Industries decided they would give us. on the plus side, if you hear the stereo and decide you want to keep it, fiberglass is amazingly light compared to a comparable wood box.
