Phone Mute on a Stock 2003 Outback HU
I'm trying to get a Sony HCB-300 Bluetooth Handsfree kit installed in my 2003 Outback. It's been a challenge to say the least...
I've come up with a two big questions, first is there a connector on the back of the stock HU for a phone mute? This allows a handsfree phone kit to mute the stereo when a call comes in or when you make a call. On some vehicles it may even cause the HU to display "PHONE" when the handsfree kit is in use.
Second does ANYBODY make the male plug that gets plugged in to the back of the stock HU. To use the Advanced Music Mute which routes a call on the handsfree kit through the car's speakers I need some way of connecting the cable to the HU. I have the reverse wiring bus that I plug into the wiring harness that goes off into the speakers and such. This harness I can then splice into the Advanced Music Mute, but I don't have the other side of the equation. The connector to splice onto the other side of the Advanced Music Mute so I can connect that to the back of the HU. So far I haven't had any luck locating this piece and am considering going to a junk yard and cutting this piece out of a wrecked Outback (assuming I can find one).
Of course the first question is the big one... If there's no phone mute connector on the back of the HU, I can't even use the Advanced Music Mute anyway...
Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated....

No such connector or function on the stock HU. To accomplish what you want you'll need to replace it with an aftermarket one that has the features you require. Not a bad idea anyway, you'll get better sound as well.

I've been custom making reverse harnesses in small production runs, mainly for SVX owners who want to install stock radios from other Subarus. See this link for more information.
If you have already purchased the Scosche part, I can provide an extra wire with contact pin so you'll have all 14 wires. E-mail me for details.
