Kicker or JL
Ok I want to replace my factory speakers. I had some alpine type r speakers for all around but they didn't fit. I want 6.5 components in the front and 5.25 in the rear. So I was wondering should I go with JL VR series or just go with kicker K series and save about 150 in the process. And if you say another brand state why and how much more they are than the kickers. Also if you have any other suggestions about speakers or sizes or anything please feel free to comment. Thanks guys
Talking bout for an Impreza? Theres a spacer you can get for the front to fit 6.5" speakers. There are people on this board who have alpine Type-R componet set in the front. I dont know about for the rear.
If you are going JL or Kicker, personal preference is JL. Always had high quality from there products and they have yet to fail me.

jl if money isn't a concern. i just installed these cl-61's in my girls minivan along with the cl-6x coaxes in the rear. the components have 1" silk tweeter and sound excellent. they can be had from www.thezeb.com for $150 because a batch had the wrong color of red on the baskets. cdt has EXCELLENT customer service to boot. you email them and they respond! you have a problem, they fix it.

You can fit the Alpines...buy the spacers from eastcoast.... www.aiperformance.com I think is their site.
You'll need em to fit any 6.5's.
If it were kicker and JL. JL hands down. My last car was 100% JL minus the head unit. Sounded awesome. I'd run JL again but I bought some CDT's to check them out.
First option.....fit the alpines. Second....sell them and buy some JL's.

I had the correct adapters from IA performance but I couldn't get the fronts to fit unless I wanted to do some modification to the screw on the window or some other things. Personally I just want some speakers that will just go in there without any trouble with using the adapters of course. Ok so you guys say JL over kicker. But am I going to notice a 150 dollar difference?

If you can believe this, I prefer jl's I have them in my wrx well next week i am building custom enclosures. and i also have them in my wife's mustang. the one's that i have in the mustang i bought new in 1993 and they still pound hard so i am a fan of jl i am going to get 12w6's for my suby and put the 2 out of my suby in my wifes's mustang. so then she will have 4 12's in a convertible. no back seat of course. go with jl's i love em.
