installation kit for CD
There is no installation kit needed. It's an ISO-DIN setup so there is no mounting sleeve. The unit attaches directly to the existing side brackets that are already in the car. You just have to make sure that whatever new unit you purchase can accomodate an ISO-DIN installation, and if it has a plastic trim ring around the front face that has to be removed before installing.
As for the open space that will be left when replacing a 2-DIN factory unit with a single, the most common solution is to install a DIN storage pocket in the opening. Universal pockets can be obtained at car stereo stores or online, or you can buy one from Subaru that is used in their models that come with single DIN radios from the factory.
For the electrical part of the install you will want a harness adapter that will plug into the factory radio connector and allow you to hook up your new unit without cutting the factory wires.
If you buy the unit from Crutchfield, they include the DIN pocket and harness adapter for free along with all the necessary instructions.
