H'ok, so, here's de idea, remove my stock STi stereo (MY2005) and replace it with the Kenwood DDX7015 touch-screen display. I will then put in an Alpine KCA-420i iPod adapter, so I can have my tunes with me. I can throw the unit under the seat, i think, and pop the 'Pod into the glove compartment.

So, my question is, does anyone know if the Alpine iPod interface is compatible with a non Alpine HU/display?

hey whats goin on man, I work at a high end car audio store in delaware. i sell both name brands, the alpine piece is a new piece that is due to ship this month, but i have been informed by alpine that it is a ai net hook up that will only work with a alpine ai net reciever.... you can do a hardwire hook up with the kenwood piece through the aux to get the i pod to work, did you get a price on that ddx7015 yet? joe

Naw, I haven't gotten a price yet, but I was thinking on waiting until I got some money, maybe from relatives near Christmas. Damn, the Alpine iPod thing looks sweet. I think I might just get a new Alpine HU, and get the KCA-420i. Since you work in an Audio store, what HU would you recomend? Preferably a 2 DIN, maybe with a touchscreen, or a folding one.

Alpine is good stuff. I've had an Alpine HU for a few years now and love it.

a good chance NO.

car stereo is the only world that i know of, where proprietary crap works.

every company has their own connections/bus systems.

so even if the physical connection works, the logical ones wont...
