Basically Dow chemicals created a pesticide which was horrible and lead to the deaths of 15,000 people in a small city in india the late 80's and the company didn't take responsibility. These two college professors made a fake website, and went on TV pretending to be spokes persons for the company and stated that they were closing the subsidiary which was responsible for it, and donating all the proceeds to rebuild the area which was affected. This lead to an instant 2 billion drop in stocks/revenues for Dow.
Two college professors from the suburbs stole billions from a multibillion dollar chemical corporation and got away with it—and you can too.

good article. i appreciate this type of activism. but the title implies that they were recipients of said billions. well that's the general implication of "stealing" for me. causing a stock price to drop by faking representation constitutes fraud and only causes investors to lose value in their shares, which is not stealing. i'm glad they got away with it, but also super surprised that they didnt get popped for fraud.
