ok i decide to dont pay my loan yet and spend some cash on audio for my car. but with some goods options to choose im all confused for the best one. what i need is a dvd/mp3/nav system and this is what i have on mind so far :]
a) install the dvd/nav probably a nice alpine on the clock's spot using the gauge pack from subaru and then an in-dash screen on the current stereo's spot. im just worried about smashing my car while watching the map on that spot!
b) put the dvd/nav player in the nomal spot and put a screen in the gauge pod spot .. now here the screen will be smalller.
c) or just pust everything on the normal spot
what you da suggest?
also i found a web where you can get a computer for you car.. im so in love with computers i just couldnt live without mine so having one inside my car will be crazy as hell! linux on my suby! lol.. do you know something about this?
the site is http://www.mp3car.com/

ideas
I am doing the same thing minus the nav.
1.) I got some advice that said the monitor in the guage pod position will be a cop attention getter. Then again, you always see the Honda Pilots and others with the screen pretty much at this position (where a cop would see it). I wonder..........if you have your nav on, the cop won't care, but if you have a dvd on the cop would? I guess it just depends on the cop. I assume you couldn't get pulled over if the screen is stock, but if it is aftermarket it may cause concern.
2.) One idea would be to put the screen (it would have to be motorized) and the dvd/nav in the double DIN. One thing you need to take into account is that if you put the screen in the top position, it will be in front of the vents which is a major no-no because of the hot air blowing onto it. Unless you're going to block these vents off somehow, you don't want to do this. But, with the motorized screen at the bottom din position, when it is open, you can't access the dvd/nav until you close the screen.
3.) For your application, I would put the dvd/nav into the guage pod, and get a screen that just fits into the dash at the double din, or a motorized screen that will fit in the bottom DIN.
I think you replied to one of my threads called "in-dash monitor location" asking for the same PM that I got about installing this stuff. Look in this same thread for a reply from Island Style, his setup is what I would recommend. This is the most logical setup that I have seen. Yeah you might not see the screen as well, but a cop won't be able to see it at all. With all of the money you're spending on your system, you might not want to pay steep fines too! Anyway, some things to think about.

theres another option that would cost about the same amount of money.
get the dvd/cd/nav player and install it in the regular din spot.
get the little projector that u mount to the dash that projects onto the windshield of the car. the projector is about 6 inches long and the width of a couple pencils. do some research on it some can make a nice vivid picture and some will make a clear fuzzy picture.
that way you dont have that big screen above your clock so you wont get attention from cops.
and its HOT!

put it all in the dash in the top part of the double din, that's what i did, works great. out of view of cops mostly, and easy to install. as for the vents, dont worry about that, just turn the vents to blow out the windshield or at your feet or just close the screen no biggie.
