Head Unit Suggestions?
All I can said is that if you need a sub control you can buy a good quality radio an add a parametric EQ that always comes with sub control(sub volume and frecuency) you also can ask this question to the people of crutchfield or go to their web site they can match your needs.
I 2nd the vote for Eclipse. You can pay top dollar and receive one of the best head units on the market. OR, pay not so much, and still get a VERY VERY good sounding head unit. Ya, you might not have dolphins going across the screen, or 10 different color variations, or a crappy crossover/phase control but you'll have a better sounding head unit than 99% of people that have an aftermarket head unit, and it will STILL come with a few options that are good to have, but not always necessary (crossover points, non-fade sub channel, bass/mid/treble control, etc...) Just my .02
Sorry, forgot this:
Stereo Linky
I got the 5423 or 33 (sorry, my car's outside) for $286 installed. Also, one thing that hasn't been mentioned, is the security Eclipse provides (ESN). Check it out!

alpine 9807 or 9811, online you may find the 9813 under 300.
9811 offers 3 preouts and sub controls on it. I know the 9813 offers same or better, i think the 9813 has a better EQ on it. Not sure about the 9807.
All these play MP3's also. And the green light matches well with my subaru, not sure if your interior gauge lights are green though.
