first time install questions
Finally got most of the performance stuff I want done to my car, now I'm getting started with the A/V
My last car was a Jeep and I pulled most of the stereo stuff out of that before I sold it, that was 2 years ago and I'd got most of the stuff 2 years before that.
right now I have
Alpine 7839 Head Unit (sold to get a newer MP3 unit)
Alpine 335 5 Channal Amp
Bazooka 10" Sub tube
2 Rockford Fosgate 12" Subs in a Ported Box
and I just ordered a 4ga Monster Amp Install Kit, 50ft of 16ga Monster XP Speaker wire and 4 pair of Monster XLN Pre-amp lines.
I also have a brandless 7" screen and 2 brandless 5" screens that will run off of an Xbox
ok so my first question is where is the best place to bring the power through the firewall? I've heard of a grommet behind the pedels but I have no clue where it is... if some one has a pic or a good description that would be awesome.
my second question is why can I not find an alpine head unit with more than 3 pre-amp outs? it seems every head unit I find only has rear channels and a sub woofer out. the last time I did stereo stuff alpine head units would put out 4 pre-amps front and rear and the sub woofer was handled by a cross over in the amp
Idealy I'd like a cheap alpine head unit with front and rear pre-amps that plays MP3s... internal amplification is useless. preferably silver with blue lights. I can't seem to find that in any brand...
Finally I wont be buying new speakers for a while but when I do what offers the best blend of quality and fitment in the doors (2002 WRX) I've heard there are problems with the apline speakers being too deep ???
any help would be appreciated.

There is a hole behing the pedals, if you pull up your carpet it will be right there. There is a sound denting material that is pre cut with a plug for the hole, just pop it out and off you go. As for as head units go I am running a Alpine Cda 7995. Which has front/rear/sub outputs. I was thinking about selling it because it is over kill for my set-up. I am using a slave/ master set-up and my Md/ Dsp does all the work. if your interested I would be willing to sell it to you. It is silver with bleu lights.
As far as speakers go, i can't help you I built customer fiberglass door panels.

wow that HU sound like exactly what I'm looking for.
though looking for speck lists I keep turning up 2 different versions....
1 has 5 pre-outs and no internal amplification and the other has 3 pre-outs and 60x4 amplification.... it seems like the former got for much less (which is good because thats the version I want) but it's harder to find....
I'm assuming thats the version you have.
I'll PM you with an offer.

speaker
im not sure whats in you 02 wrx.. but im sure its the same as my 03 rs... the speaker depth problem comes when the magnet is too big and set back and therefore hits the window when its down. in order to remedy this, you need to custom fit 3/4" mdy for the speaker area and mount the speakers on that. I have a cd of pictures i took when i did it. I'll look and see if i can find it and post them.
