factory speakers...aftermarket cd player?
I was just wondering if anyone has just added a cd player but havn't done anything to the speakers. I want to know if the factory speakers (not the upgraded ones) sound better with an afetrmarket c.d. player.
I know the quality will be better but how much? Is it worth the money? I also have subs from my old car and want to put them in my suby. I was thinking i could take the bass off the door speakers and just use my subs as bass. Has anyone tried this? How did it work?
If anyone knows anything about this the help would be really appreciated. Thanks

I just had my factory speakers taken out. The guys at the install shop passed them around and laughed. They are very shallow, made of paper, and have a tiny magnet. They would cost $5 at an electronics store. It is very hard to imagine them sounding decent under any circumstances.

My car came with the factory upgraded speakers, so I can't really answer your question, but...
I started with stock cd player and speakers. Bad sound. Added a JL subwoofer and aftermarket cd player. Much better sound!!!
Finally I replaced the front speakers and it made a big improvement again. The factory upgraded speakers were actually very good for factory speakers and I lived with them for a year or so. But they still didn't compare to a nice set of component speakers...
Now, since the factory upgraded speakers are not paper, they probably sound better than the stock paper speakers when turned up loud, so you are probably starting even a step below where I started. That would mean that you probably don't like your stereo's sound too much...

yeah...i found a good cd player with the "ghost" face on it. I think it will look really good in the silver dash of my rex. the only thing is, is that the player is $500. That is a lot! but it plays mp3s and WMAs soit might be worth it. It also has a 3d display and different colors on the screen. Then it is time to put in my subs and get some door speakers. Thanks for the info everyone.

I found that the stock deck is very well tuned for the stock speakers.
stock deck+aftermarket speaker = weak sound, mega distortion if cranked
aftermarket deck+stock speakers = everything sounds bland
anydeck + amps + aftermarket speakers = sounds great!
I've got good sound from a friends install with good speakers and a 4 x 40W (rms) amp.

better system
don't ever put after maket speaker first! cuzz factory deck never have enought power to support them
step 1. deck
step 2. speaker
step 3. sub + amp
step 4. amp for front and back speakers
do everything step by step if you don't have the money...
Hoffman..let me know which one it is. i think you might be talking about the kenwood one. e-mail me for the better price
